SAMES offers a low-cost solution for ASIC (application specific integrated circuit) prototyping through the use of an MPW service. This service run allows users to access expensive waferfab technology at a fraction of the normal cost. This is achieved by spreading the cost of silicon wafers and masks over many different users by consolidating individual customer designs  for manufacture on the same wafer. 

This service is ideal for customers who wish to prototype a new design or an innovative idea without the otherwise prohibitive cost of a fully customised engineering run.

These MPW runs are scheduled regularly on the different technologies available, subject to the prevailing demand for the service.
